Cristina Siegel - Executive Director

GREEN TALK

The Clean Valley Council's new Executive Director, Cristina Siegel, joined us on Wednesday, June 28, 2010.

“I have a passion for environmental health and sustainable use of our natural resources.   I was drawn to CVC by their strong and well respected environmental education program and strong citizen and business participation programs such as Clean Valley Day”, Ms. Siegel stated. “I am very excited about the opportunity to lead these efforts into the future and nurture their growth.”

"Cristina has a terrific combination of academic and scientific credentials in soil and forestry conservation and a personal commitment to sustainability, living in a solar powered home,” said James Breakell, President of Breakell, Inc. and incoming President of the Clean Valley Council Board of Directors.

New Leadership at Clean Valley Council

Virginia Review - 28 Years of Good Clean Fun

The Clean Valley Council serves the cities of Roanoke and Salem, the counties of Botetourt and Roanoke and the town of Vinton as an educational resource.  The Clean Valley Council provides educational programming about litter prevention and reuse, recycling and reduction of the wastestream for all levels in both public and private schools.

As most if you know. we unexpectedly lost our Executive Director, Ann Masters on December 18, 2009.  Gifts in her memory may be sent to Clean Valley Council at the address above. If you wish to make your donation in her name, please make note so we are able to notify the family of your kind remembrance. She was recently interviewed by Tracy Garland and the article concluded with:

"I have had a good life with marvelous family, friends and fun,”
And while her position as Executive Director of the Clean Valley Council is “the best job I’ve ever had,” Ann’s true goal in life is to work herself out of a job. “I would love to close the doors on the CVC, because that would mean that Roanoke is clean, pristine and healthy and that it’s going to stay that way.” She reflects “I hope my work has made a difference in the environment. I know the work has made a change in me.”
