Oceans of Trash – Middle and High School

Students will identify regional watersheds & map the movement of solid waste from storm drains to the oceans. Students will understand how our local waste can affect both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, near and far. A powerpoint presentation and discussion will enhance understanding of ocean characteristics and Roanoke Valley’s connections to the ocean. Students will focus on ways that they can help reduce pollution without our waters.

Grade: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, Middle School, and High School.
