Meet Kim Romero and Aerin Doughty

Kim Romero is a Nonpoint Source Coordinator for the Department of Environmental Quality's Blue Ridge Regional Office in Salem, VA. She specializes in coordinating the development of TMDL implementation plans. Kim also manages grants to implement completed Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) standards, tracking requirements and reporting requirements. Kim also works to promote awareness of and involvement in watershed stewardship by fostering partnerships among community organizations, federal, state, and local agencies and governments to facilitate watershed management planning while also introducing 319h grant funding opportunities. In her free time, Kim enjoys going on hikes around Roanoke with her husband and two sons.

Aerin Doughty is the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) Coordinator for the Blue Ridge Regional Office of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. Prior to this role, she was a water quality monitoring specialist, also for DEQ. She is a West Virginia University alumnus.  When she isn't working, she is probably hiking or flyfishing somewhere in the mountains.

Planning for Clean Water

This workshop will allow students to learn about and practice watershed planning. From identifying sources of pollution to brainstorming ideas for how to improve waterways, students will explore the resource management practices that help improve waterways across Virginia.
